STRAWBERRIES

STRAWBERRIES NOW PICKING

Strawberries are still going strong, we have had a great season so far. A couple of the varieties have now finished for the season. We also have fresh fruit ICE CREAM!!

Call into our Wee Red Barn Shop for all your frozen berries to make tasty jams or cool smoothies on these warm summer days.

Children from Opaki School have had a very productive time with their new gardening projects: from looking after their strawberry patch, to growing huge pumpkins, to digging their own potatoe patch. Fun was had by all.

Something new new in the strawberry field, we are expanding into tabletop strawberries: Watch this patch!

RASPBERRIES

AUTUMN RASPBERRIES START IN ONE MONTH

Summer raspberries have finished for the season but our autumn raspberries will start in one months time.

It has been a wet season this year but as we have our raspberries covered we have had a great crop. We look forward to our Autumn season starting soon.

With our summer berries finished we have been able to finish the tidy up of cutting out old wood, tiring up and tiding up around the plants.

Plants are now showing flowers and berries for our next crop.

BLACKBERRIES

BLACKBERRIES IN FULL SWING

We have got two varieties of Blackberries, one that has finished a week ago and the other that is now in full swing, these will go on for another three weeks, not only to have fresh for dessert but also able to freeze for our yummy ice cream.

In three to four weeks time we will be able to complete the cutting out, tiding and tiring all ready for next season.

GOOSEBERRIES

GOOSEBERRIES FINISHED FOR THIS SEASON

Our Gooseberries have inished for this season, so we are patiently waiting for the leaves to fall off to enable tidy up to begin.

New season crop is expected early December 2012 but with these little beauties it really is a case of you snooze - you lose!

Our new plants that were planted this year will be ready for December picking.

CURRANTS

CURRANTS ALMOST!!!

Excellent crop of red currants the best thing is that we even managed to get to them before the birds did! These will definitely have nets over the canes next season to protect the fruit from our feathered friends.

If you can't wait for the new season crop we do have some frozen red currants in stock.

Black currants were such a hit we are all sold out of both fresh and frozen.

BOYSENBERRIES

A FEW MORE WEEKS ON THESE

We were really pleased with the success of this ever popular berry. We had a bumper crop and have just finished cutting, securing and generally preparing the new canes. They are all looking really good and we are looking forward to another good crop next season.

Crop expected January 2012.
